John Barilaro resigns as Deputy Premier of New South Wales days after Gladys Berejiklian stepped down

John Barilaro on Monday morning announced he would resign as Deputy Premier of NSW, declaring “now is the right time for me to hand the reins over to new leadership”. 

John Barilaro, the leader of the New South Wales Nationals and the Member for Monaro, has announced he will resign as Deputy Premier of NSW.

Mr Barilaro confirmed his resignation in a statement on Monday morning, just days after Gladys Berejiklian revealed she would step down as Premier.
