Make your vote count – Don’t do postal votes 

We believe it is especially important to vote in person in the upcoming federal election.

If you want to make sure your vote counts, please deregister your postal vote as soon as possible OR check to make sure you’re NOT registered for postal voting. 

You will need to know which electorate you are in before you cancel it. CLICK HERE TO FIND YOUR ELECTORATE NAME

Instructions on how to cancel your postal vote: 

  1. You must contact AEC in writing.
  1. There are several options to inform them: 

BY EMAIL  

Email them and ask to be DEREGISTERED for postal voting. Use your electorate name followed by @aec.gov.au. For example. flinders@aec.gov.au 

ONLINE CONTACT FORM 

CLICK HERE. Go through the prompts and let them know you want to cancel postal voting.  

BY POST 

  1. Find the mailing address for your electorate – CLICK HERE 
  1. Then click on the state you are in 
  1. Then click on your electorate 
  1. Send them a letter explaining that you do not want to participate in postal voting anymore. 

WELL DONE 

You have taken the first step to ensure your vote counts

  1. My wife will be out of the country before the early voting commencement and will still be in Germany when the election is on, she would need to do a postal vote in Germany. Is there any other way to vote in person in Australia before she heads off or is it postal voting only ? Cheers iain
