Who is Jay Battacharya?

Jay Bhattacharya is one of the world’s leading experts on public health policy and is appearing live in the heart of Sydney. He is a Professor of Health Policy at Stanford University and directs the Stanford Center for Demography and Economics of Health and Aging.

His research focuses on the health and well-being of vulnerable populations, with a particular emphasis on the role of government programs, biomedical innovation, and economics. Recently, he has evaluated the epidemiology of COVID-19 as well as an evaluation of policy responses to the epidemic, and was co-founder of The Great Barrington Declaration.

With 135 articles published in leading peer-reviewed journals in medicine, economics, health policy, epidemiology, statistics, law, and public health, don’t miss what the professor has to say to Australians this September.

Professor Gigi Foster

Gigi Foster (PhD Economics, U Maryland; BA Ethics, Politics and Economics, Yale) researches education, social influence, corruption, lab experiments, time use, behavioral economics, and Australian policy, publishing in specialised, cross-disciplinary, and lay outlets. Named 2019 Young Economist of the Year by the Economic Society of Australia, Gigi engages regularly outside the academy as one of Australia’s leading economics communicators, including via co-hosting The Economists on ABC Radio National. She is also a nationally awarded tertiary educator.

Professor Iain Benson

Professor Benson was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, is an academic, lecturer and practicing lawyer in constitutional law and human rights with particular focus on freedoms of association, conscience and religion, the nature of pluralism, multi-culturalism and relationships between law, religion and human rights.

Rowan Dean

Rowan Dean is one of Australia’s leading media commentators and political satirists. He is the host of the contrarian and number one rating Outsiders show on Sky News Australia and a regular commentator on other TV shows. Rowan is also the editor-in-chief of The Spectator Australia and writes a weekly satirical column for the Australian Financial Review. He is also the author of several books, including the novel Corkscrewed, a tale of hedonism and ambition in the heady days of 1980s advertising.
