Reignite Democracy Australia (RDA) completely rejects a slur by The Age newspaper that they endorse violent political actions. The article ‘Far-right protester charged by counter-terror police amid talk of killing Daniel Andrews’ implies that RDA is involved in violent protests. It exploits a very recognisable journalistic trick – guilt by association, a technique of saying just because someone knows someone else then they must have the same views, which is obviously rubbish. There is no evidence put forward against RDA because no evidence exists.
Monica Smit says no journalists from The Age tried to contact her or the party before making their underhanded implications.
This is yet more evidence that the proper practice of journalism no longer exists in Australia. Journalists are supposed to give the people they write about a right of reply, at the very minimum. The fact that they did not do so shows that The Age has degenerated into a propaganda outlet for the State government. We are seeing this happening across the legacy media.
The situation is now one of total hypocrisy. If anyone questions the vaccine mandates or starts a political party to oppose what is medical tyranny and apartheid, they are demonised as dangerous people. Yet this is just Australian citizens exercising their right of free speech.
Criticise the journalists who are mounting these attacks, however, and they will immediately defend themselves by saying the media is protected because it is the medium of free speech. So degraded has the practice of journalism now become, they do not even notice this hypocrisy, let alone their culpable lack of respect for different points of view, which is supposed to be the very core of journalism.
The article is written as a piece of investigative journalism but is just a slippery exercise in attacking perfectly legitimate political organisations. The claim that Kate Callan used her IT skills to help RDA is trying to invent guilt by association, a low trick. Even if it were true, it does not mean anything.
RDA has explicitly and often eschewed any form of violence. Non-violent protest is the only way to go. See the article here from two days ago.
Now content with using guilt by association against RDA, the so-called journalists then use guilt by association twice-over by suggesting that the United Australia Party has questions to answer because it is associated with RDA!
These are journalistic tricks designed to deceive readers. Hopefully, readers will see through them.
The slurs are even directed against members of the Liberal Party politicians for simply attending rallies; that is, exercising the basic right of assembly. This shows how much The Age has become just a media propaganda outlet for the State government.
What is most egregious is that The Age, and most of the legacy media, has said nothing about the violence being perpetrated by the Andrews government against the citizens of Victoria, especially the vaccine mandates. The Andrews government has called them vaccines when they are not according to the Therapeutic Goods Administration’s own definition. They are experimental gene therapies. How many Australians know that and have given informed consent? The government has lied when they say they are safe. They cannot know that because the testing should take at least 6-10 years. How many Australians have been deceived? In law, any invasive medical intervention without valid consent is defined as a bodily injury or battery. These vaccine mandates precisely match the ban on ‘civil conscription’ that is outlawed in the Constitution.
These so-called investigative journalists have failed to investigate the biggest story of their lifetimes – the attack on Australian democracy and the imposition of medical apartheid. They will look back in shame if they ever develop enough self-awareness to see how profoundly they failed in the most basic duties of journalism.
